Nice idea, but the metronome ticks have poor relation to the necessary timing of pressing notes. Ok if you want to practice syncopated playing, maybe.

Just what I was looking for to practice my piano sight reading.
klinky! never bothered to learn sheet music, i was way more into playing in mud puddles when i was a kid. quite fun and challenging. i wish there was a cheat mode where i could see the names of the notes on the staff.
I love this game! It is better than TEMPLE RUN
Its a fun, challenging game so you dont feel like youre taking medicine, but youre actually learning to read music. Graphic design is very cool and funny too. The only complaint I have is that the keys arent wide enough for must adults on an iPhone. Id love to see a fix for that.
Whod a thunk it! A fun game that actually teaches you something you can apply to a real instrument in the real world
The only two things driving me crazy with this game are: 1. The sheet music runs backwards. If you would just reverse the way the sheet music runs it would be awesome. The music should come at you just like you read music... Not backward. The red line should be near the clef not at the end of the page. It is so unnatural that way it is annoying. 2. The keys need to be bigger. Even on my iPad they are so small I hit the wrong key all the time. Otherwise awesome game. I would give 5 stars if you fixed these two things.
Luv to play as I learn
I like the game. However it would be better with sound. :-(
I am a beginner jumping head first into piano and sight reading. Im on vacation, without keyboard, trying to learn quickly. This app is exactly what I needed. Ive improved several times faster than I could have alone. After some hours of play Im already getting most of the keyboard fluently in both clefs- something I thought would take far longer to accomplish. I cant vouch for the more advanced levels. I suspect it may be tough to find the keys with two hands as it gets more complicated, but for me its perfect. I used some of the other good piano sight reading apps to learn where the notes are, but this app pushes your limits and improvement comes faster. They manage to make it into a fun and addictive game.
I instruct 40 students and this is a required app for anyone starting lessons with me. Kids play it without even realizing how much theyre learning and its improved my own sight reading! Great teaching tool!
Overall, I think this is a great game. It could use some polish, but I have been looking for a game like this for quite a while.
My kids love this app!! No more forcing them to use flash cards to learn new notes! Just wish you could set it up for more than one user.
Ive checked out a few sight reading training apps and this is the only one so far that steps a new reader up in an achievable progression. The price is a steal given that by the time you reach the higher levels, you will be proficiently reading notes off the staff and automatically playing the corresponding keyboard keys. There are a couple of things missing that would really make this app stellar... 1. MIDI support. Itd be so much better to train on a real keyboard than on the touch screen when possible. (Could be another in-app purchase since its a little more specialized). 2. The notes really should come in from the right because thats how the learner will be reading music everywhere else 3. The lowest levels are still too fast for young learners. They get frustrated and give up which is a pity given thus apps potential to train. 4. Support multiple learners using the same iPad.
This is a great app. It is fun and really helps to develop your piano sight reading. I just started using it and wonder if the advanced levels include key signatures (they should). Only problem I noticed is that the accidentals (sharps, flats) are placed to the right of the note head and they should be placed to the left. Keep it up!
At 56 I retired from the state. I had a lot of time on my hands and decided to fulfill a life long dream to learn to sight read. I have "played piano" since I was 12, I played in several bands and for not being able to read music I could play quite a wide range of popular music. Eventually I would learn to read music "but slowly" I attribute that to my age.. "Attack of the piano" forces you to "read fast" and not only that but for your eyes to "dart" up and down from bass to treble staff; like speed reading. I wrote an earlier review in anticipation of my progress. I have exceeded my expectations. Hint; dont get into the habit of "pattern recognition" you must recognize each note and day to yourself. It takes longer but enables true "sight reading" enabling you to play a song with minimal or no rehearsal/memorization. This "game" is not just for kids...
Cant use with real keyboard and doesnt show note names :(
Ive been a trumpet player for many years and I know how to read music. As far as the piano, Im not good at all! I know the notes on the keyboard and I know intermediate level music theory and I just wanted an easy and convenient way to practice. Music theory knowledge without practicing doesnt do me any good. This app has helped me practice keyboard fingering, playing at a required time and gives an opportunity to master the lessons before moving on. And thats just the first two lessons. My job requires me to be away from home a lot and this app will help me improve my keyboard skills while away from home. Did I mention its fun? Its a game! It can be played with other players that own the app! I elected not to do so for now. I want to practice a little before I play the GAME against other people. More than likely, the other players out there will probably be a lot younger than I and a lot better. LOL Im looking forward to using this app a lot since Ive loaded it onto my iPad and iPhone! Music is for all ages. I really like apps like these! YES! This app does have sound and it also provides metronome clicks for tempo awareness.
This game is impossible to understand . The instructions are unclear! As a piano teacher, I was unable to complete the second most basic level. The author obviously does not know music notation , as sharps are behind, instead of in front of notes, and stems are placed incorrectly. I bought this to help my students, but I wouldnt dream of asking them to use it!!! Addendum: I tried this game with a 4th grader. He did better than I did! This game only works for "gamers", which, unfortunately, most kids today are. If they would put half the time they spend on playing video games into practicing piano, theyd be terrific pianists! Good sight readers do exactly the opposite of what this game trains. They look to the right, and they see not only the note they are about to play, but also, a few notes beyond that. Forcing a player to focus on hitting a note in a narrow window defeats every principle of sight reading!
